Twitch in my bum!

Hi all,

It's day three of the new journey.  I may have mentioned previously that I am doing the Lean and Strong program.

I've done the first two days of training which were weights based and today was more stretching and attempting to get a little flexibility and core work.

I must say I can feel it working, I've now got this butt twitch in my left check which I am sure is reminding me of the good work I've done he he

I know this is probably a little to early to say but I am proud of my efforts. I'm currently on afternoon shift but have made the effort each day when I've awoken to get the gear on and do my workout.  The best bit about it is I'm enjoying it.

I CHOOSE HAPPINESS!

Yes it is in capitals. Why you may ask, because my motto for many years has been "Every day I wake I choose to be happy."

Today is the first day of Round 1 of 2013 for 12 WBTers. Round 4 of 2012 was my second as a 12 WBTers and lets put it this way, I didn't gain weight, but I didn't lose weight. This was my choice, I simply didn't exercise. I followed the food plan and maintained.

This Round I decided its all about my happiness again and finding that special me in me!

I'm doing the Lean and Strong program as I don't have a lot of weight to lose but want to firm and tone my saggy, baggy, flabby bits. I've 12 weeks which is a darn long time and a lot can be achieved. I know this in my heart of hearts.

I am going to endeavour to blog regularly and would love you to join my journey.

The Positive Side of a Guilty Mind

Tuesday morning I woke with the very prominent thought in my mind I would walk the dog and that would be it for the day. Yep my training would consist only of walking the dog. 

I was buggered from the previous night and decided that's all I could manage.  I'd worked my afternoon shift and stayed on afterwards to clean my work place for a little over an hour and I deserved a break!

I later in the morning called my friend Tanya B who is also doing the 12WBT and had a chat to her and how she had found the lentil patties in the frozen section of our local store.  We were both quite surprised.

Then she continued to tell me about her previous night, how her sister and nephew were staying over and she was awake a lot of the night but still got up at 5.00am to train and ensure her workout was done.

Well let me tell you, the guilt set in about my thoughts of only taking the dog for a walk because "I was buggered".

I reflected on my internal excuses and realised I think I had used most of the ones I have on my list.....  work, shift work, no time, to busy, to tired, lethargic and I'm sure there would have been a few new ones that I didn't even have down.

By 10am my shoes were on, exercise clothes on, back-pack packed with towel, training schedule and water, put the harness on the dog and off out the door walking to the oval. 

To my surprise when I got to the oval my other half Duncan was there marking out the lines for the school sports day, it was if someone had been looking over me making sure that I was accountable for the day. 

I worked my bum off and managed to burn 426 calories.  A big pat on the back for me and I managed to get the dog walked at the same time.  What a fantastic positive result from my negative start to the morning and the most important thing is I feel great for doing it.

Week Two Training Download

Hi all,

I can't believe how fast week two passed!  It was a very full on week with fitting everything in.  Surprisingly I found it a little easier on my afternoon shifts (week one) to get everything done.  The pace of last week was no-stop.

My Home Gym

I've not had a chance to blog for a few days. I've been flat out working, exercising, prepping meals and basically trying to fit everything in. In saying that I did manage to do so.
 
My home gym, yep it started off at my junk room as such as you can see by the below pic of all the clutter and mess.

I truly didn't know where to start but somehow it all happened.  It took me a little bit of time here, a little bit of time there but eventually I had it sorted.

I know it's nothing flash but let me tell you, it's the place where I've sweated off a few calories this week.
 
 
 
Duncs is doing his weights now and I'm getting my butt into gear doing the 12WBT exercises.  We've got everything we pretty much need in here now.  I even use the bed frame to place my gym gear on and to do towel pulls!
 
 
I've got an old TV in there as well. When I get to a major shopping area (500km round trip away) I might even get a very cheap DVD player to do some exercise videos.
 
 
I'm happy with my room transformation, I just have to work as hard to get my body transformation looking as fabulous.  Here's to uncluttering things besides just my spare room.

Day 1 and 2

I was quite nervous yesterday morning and was not 100% sure how it would go. I was worried about the first meal of all things, wondering how that would go.

Long story short I had my stomach banded 12 years ago and this whole plan seems to be bread, bread, bread and more BREEEEAD....  It's one thing that most banded people can't eat.  Thinking of ways to substitute it has been interesting, I've basically avoided it in the past and not had to worry.  I ended up turning the bread into melba toast by baking it in the oven,  I pureed the fruit and put it on the ricotta like jam. I must say it was a might fine breakfast.  

Lunch was a wrap and dinner, well Duncs and I both loved the fish stew.  I did add two tablespoons of tomato paste and a sprinkling of curry powder to add some more flavour.

Hmmm, food was not the only thing that happened throughout my day, I exercised in the morning using my Polar FT60.  That was and eye opener as I did my Wii boxing and I didn't raise my heartrate enough.  Subsequently Duncs, Chops and I went for a walk in the afternoon.

I planned my day in my diary and recorded my eating and exercise in a 'diet and fitness journal'. 

To say I was extremely proud of my efforts for the day is an understatement.  Also the support I've received from Duncs has been fantastic.  I couldn't ask for more.

Day two has been another learning day.  I got up half hour later than yesterday.  I got my exercise gear on and was doing Wii Fit by 0615hrs.  I did that for an hour, got ready for work and walked there and home.  Its not that far but it all helps.  Once again I didn't get my heartrate up enough to burn a decent amount of calories so I went down the oval and did the outdoor exercises.

I popped in to check on Tanya B to see how she was doing and from all accounts she's following the plan well and sore from doing her home exercises.  Tanya N is not doing the 12WBT but is going great guns with exercising and eating well. 

I'm surprised that I am feeling full after my meals and loving making the extra.  So glad we've got soup for Thursday and two spare lots to freeze. 

Well I must go and get my dairy organised for tomorrow.  Up early, 0530ish to get Duncs and my breakfast sorted.
